This bridge is unusual because its polygonal chord features four slopes, which is the smallest number that a polygonal top chord can have.
This bridge has suffered from a lack of maintenance and rust on the bridge was not dealt with, leading to section loss. While HistoricBridges.org believes this bridge could have and should have been restored despite these conditions, demolition has been chosen for this historic bridge. Since the new bridge is being located on slightly different alignment, at the very least this bridge should be left standing next to its replacement its historic value. It could also be restored to provide a pedestrian crossing.
