Bridge Documentation

This classic Wrought Iron Bridge Company Whipple truss bridge sits abandoned. The trusses retain good historic integrity and the bridge is a good example of the company's standard Whipple truss design. The name of this bridge and road may refer to a previous bridge at this location. This bridge is a Whipple truss, and most certainly is not a lattice truss bridge. Some timber bridges such as covered bridges used a lattice configuration, perhaps the previous bridge at this location was a timber lattice bridge. This is pure speculation, however.
