This is the only surviving example of what until 2017 was a unique trio of Joseph Davenport's patented iron Howe truss spans on the Wayne County Fairgrounds. Presumably relocated from other places, all three likely dated to the 1870s. This bridge carries a fairgrounds path over the creek. Until 2017, to the east of this bridge was a highway bridge with 2 sidewalks. Each sidewalk was supported by two historic iron Howe truss bridges, of similar design to this bridge. In 2017, these bridges were demolished and replaced. Given that these 3 bridges were some of the rarest and most significant truss bridges in Ohio, having been built by the Ohio based Massillon Bridge Company, and given the small size of the trusses that made them easy to relocate and preserve elsewhere, it is frustrating to see that they have been demolished. It is hoped that this single surviving example will not meet a similar fate in the future. West of this bridge there also is a small footbridge that uses salvaged riveted lattice railing from an unknown bridge.
