Bridge Documentation

This rare Strauss bascule bridge is separated from a number of through truss approach spans by a short section of land. In this sense it could be thought of as two bridges, but is being listed here as a single bridge. The through truss approach spanss have a longer span length than the main bascule span. Lengths given are estimates. The approach spans include four truss spans estimated at 130 feet. The westernmost through truss span is different in appearance from the other three truss spans. There is also a short plate girder span at the west end over Linden Avenue. Total length estimated above is the distance from the front of the west abutment to the east end of the bascule counterweight frame.
