This bridge was built in 1952, but with its ornamental railings and riveted built-up truss members with extensive v-lacing, the bridge looks exactly like a bridge built in the 1930s. By the 1950s, some truss bridges were moving away from the use of v-lacing and lattice in built-up beams, were increasingly using rolled beams in truss members, and were sometimes using bolts for truss connections. This bridge has none of those. Thus, despite its 1952 construction date, the bridge can be seen as a good example of traditional riveted truss bridge construction. The bridge is at a notable grade (slope). Spring River at this location has attractive rocky cliffs, making this a scenic location. Sadly, beauty of setting and beauty and historic significance of bridge were not enough to spare this bridge from a fate of demolition and replacement, which is planned for this bridge as of 2016.
