Built in 1919, this bridge is one of the oldest surviving concrete bowstring arch bridges in this area which as of 2015 still had an above average population of this otherwise rare bridge type. However, these bridges are being demolished and replaced, and soon they will be just as rare in this part of Ontario as they are in the rest of Ontario and indeed all of Canada.

The verticals have spalled on this bridge, but otherwise it appears to be in relatively decent condition. Given its significance as an early surviving example, this bridge should be considered for preservation. The verticals could be replaced if needed, this has been done in the rehabilitation of arch bridges elsewhere in North America.

Looking closely at the railing on this bridge reveals a construction detail: The railing was assembled on-site using precast concrete pieces. They were in other words not poured into molds as a single unit on the bridge deck. Instead, the precast railing pieces were installed on the bridge, and they fit together like a puzzle.
