Bridge Documentation

This bridge no longer exists!

Bridge Status: Demolished and replaced in 2020.

View Environmental Assessment For This Bridge

This bridge is one of few surviving heritage truss bridges in the region. It is located in a very scenic rural area, and beautiful views of the bridge can be found.

A proposed plan to demolish and replace this bridge with a new "replica" is false advertising. Riveted truss bridges are not built in Canada today. Any new truss bridge constructed would look a lot different than the existing bridge and would have no heritage value. It would be better to rehabilitate the heritage bridge, or even place the existing heritage trusses on a modern load-bearing superstructure, as was done with a bridge in Creemore, Ontario.
