This is actually a fairly long bridge with a substantial total of six arch spans, but it is hard to discern this from many locations. Like many of Toronto's heritage bridges, this bridge crosses a tree-filled river valley in addition to the river itself, and this makes photographing the entire bridge without obstruction nearly impossible, at least when leaves are on the trees.
The bridge features three full-length, full arch spans, and at each end there is a half-arch span. The three hinged arches are traditionally composed of riveted built-up beams. The bridge had its deck replaced in 1980 and in 2010 the steel superstructure was rehabilitated and repainted, changing the color from blue-green to black. The bridge's original railings do not remain on the bridge. The arches show evidence of repairs with a number of rivets being replaced with bolts. Otherwise, the historic integrity of the arch spans is good.
