This bridge is similar to the nearby Oxford-Waterloo Road Bridge. Unlike that bridge, the Bridge Street Bridge retains original railings. The Bridge Street Bridge is an eight panel riveted Parker truss bridge. Its concrete deck appears to have been redone. The a-frame portal bracing shows signs of damage, possibly due to someone driving something too tall across the bridge. It is important for anyone who drives vehicles that are large or overweight to always obey height and weight restriction signs. Historic bridges have been literally destroyed, sent crashing into the river, by truck drivers not obeying weight limit signs. If not for ensuring the survival of the historic bridge, then for their own safety, people should seek an alternative route if their vehicle is too tall or heavy. The area around this bridge appears to be a popular fishing location for someone, and this bridge certainly adds to the ambience of a fishing experience.
