This large railway truss bridge sits on handsome stone piers, and even has a stone arch approach span at the end. The bridge trusses and portions of the piers appear to date to 1931, based on a date seen on a concrete cap for the piers, and further supported by the style and design of the truss spans. The 1931 bridge replaced a previous 1880 bridge. The bridge also has two deck plate girder approach spans. The stone arch approach span may in fact be from the 1880 bridge. Technically a separate bridge, a short distance east of this bridge is a plate girder overpass over Water Street as well.
