Bridge Documentation

This railroad bridge passes over the locks of the canal in this area. Reportedly, the original bridge at this location of a tubular girder bridge from the 1850s. It was replaced in 1892 with a wider bridge consisting of a Warren truss span over the canal locks and two deck truss approach spans. A historical postcard showing this bridge is shown below. This bridge was again replaced with the current bridge in 1929.
