This is a rare hand-turned bobtail swing bridge. This bridge was first constructed over the locks at Hogs Back in 1903, dismantled and stored in 1930, and re-erected in 1935 at this location. With a 1903 construction date, it is also a relatively early surviving highway truss bridge with riveted connections. A riveted steel box appears to hide the counterweight at the short end of the bridge. The ceramic builder plaque has completely deteriorated leaving the builder of the bridge unknown.
