When documented in 2016, this stretch of 9 Mile River was unusual because it had old bridges for each crossing, a total of four old bridges. It is unusual to have so many old bridges in one area. Three of the four were concrete girders with one metal truss bridge. All four bridges were part of a study in 2010, which was attempting to decide which bridges might be demolished and replaced, and which ones might be closed permanently. As such, some or all of these bridges may be at risk for demolition.
Of the three concrete girder bridges, each one is a little different in terms of detailing. This one has a small amount of architectural detailing in the form of simple horizontal lines set into the concrete.
This bridge was listed with a ca. 1920-1930 construction date.
