This bridge is in general a traditionally composed riveted through truss bridge in Ontario. However, it has an unusual detail. The normally unremarkable feature of overhead lateral bracing is on this bridge unusual because it is connected to the trusses by way of a pin connection. Normally, if a truss bridge had riveted connections, the lateral bracing would also feature riveted connections, rather than the older style pin connections. To connect via the pins, the lateral bracing uses an unusual four-prong design that produced two eyes at the end of the rod rather than the more common single eye. The overhead lateral bracing also features turnbuckles which would allow them to be tightened if needed, another feature associated with pin-connected truss bridges rather than riveted truss bridges. It is unknown why this bridge employs such unusual lateral bracing. It may indicate an obscure builder designed the bridge, or that the bridge is older than many rivet-connected through truss bridges.
This bridge recently had a new open grate deck installed.
