Information from Ontario Bridge Inventory: Bridge width: 13.2 meters.
This is a pair of very long steel stringer bridges that carries the QEW over Welland River and a railway line. The deck of the bridge has been extensively altered and reconstructed. However the view from below shows a lot more original details. Perhaps the most attractive aspect of the bridge is the interestingly shaped piers. The bridge includes diaphragms that are riveted to the stringers... the rivets being evidence of the age of the bridge. The bridge likely dates to the late 1930s or early 1940s.
