This is a small example of a concrete bowstring arch bridge. It is posted at an extremely low two tonne weight limit. One of the reasons might be the enormous dead load on the bridge: so much gravel has been allowed to pile up on this bridge that the top of the railings are almost at road level! This condition has also allowed grass to grow up on the bridge making it look overgrown and neglected.
The Heritage Inventory suggested that Charles Mattaini may have been involved with the design and/or construction of this bridge because of his involvement in other bridges. This bridge does display design similar to his bridges. However it appears that a local contractor may have constructed the bridge itself... the top of one of the arches appears to say something (it is very hard to read) like "F. Lynor Builder." This bridge was the subject of a work of art by Peter Etril Snyder. Unfortunately, his website indicates the art gallery is closed and reproductions are no longer available for sale. A thumbnail of the art is shown below.
