This is an extremely rare multi-span example of a pin-connected truss bridge surviving in Ontario. It is further significant as the work of a noteworthy bridge company, the Central Bridge and Engineering Company, which noted engineer William H. Law worked at. Before coming to Canada, William H. Law worked with Murray Dougal and Company of Milton, Pennsylvania. Similarites can be seen in the design of bridge builder plaques between these two companies, particuarly the use of a shield in the builder plaque design.
The G.D.C. Morton Memorial Bridge remains in its original location, and has been closed to vehicular traffic but remains open to non-motorized traffic.
