Bridge Documentation

When documented in 2016, this stretch of 9 Mile River was unusual because it had old bridges for each crossing, a total of four old bridges. It is unusual to have so many old bridges in one area. Three of the four were concrete girders with one metal truss bridge. All four bridges were part of a study in 2010, which was attempting to decide which bridges might be demolished and replaced, and which ones might be closed permanently. As such, some or all of these bridges may be at risk for demolition. This bridge, in particular, seemed to be the primary target for demolition and replacement of the study, although other replacement alternatives were being considered.

Of the three concrete girders along this stretch of river, this one is the least ornamented. The other two bridges have modest architectural detailing, while this bridge is essentially utilitarian in all aspects of its appearance.

This bridge was listed as being built ca. 1920-1930.
