This bridge has been moved twice, all within Oregon. The bridge was originally built over the Crooked River in Crook County in 1912. In 1956, it was relocated to a crossing over the Siuslaw River in Lane County. It was relocated to its current location in 1986, where it was converted to a non-motorized crossing for a trail system.
This bridge is a rare (particularly in Oregon) example of a double-intersection Warren truss bridge. It forms an attractive and functional crossing for the trail system it serves.
During the relocation(s), the fasteners at the connections have been replaced with modern high strength bolts. Unspecified alterations using bolts also took place when the bridge was moved in 1956. Although rivets were the typical fastener when this bridge was built, sometimes rigid-connected truss bridges were field bolted in the early 20th Century. However, it is assumed that the original fasteners were rivets. In any case, the bolts seen on the bridge today are of modern design.
The bridge is unusual in that it has no upper lateral bracing, only sway bracing (struts) and portal bracing. It is not known if this is an original design detail.
