This bridge is a state standard steel stringer bridge. It retains its original standard balustrade railings which survive in good condition.

Information and Findings From Pennsylvania's Historic Bridge Inventory

Discussion of Bridge

The 2-span, 100'-long, steel stringer bridge has concrete balustrades, concrete deck, rolled steel beam stringers with welded crossbracing, concrete pier, and concrete abutments with wingwalls. The bridge built in 1941 is a standard state highway department design developed for use on rural roads in the early 1930s. It has no innovative or distinguishing details and is an example of the most common, mid-20th century bridge type in the state. The bridge is not technologically noteworthy. Although the setting may have rural historic district potential, the bridge constructed in 1941 was not built during rural Chester County's 18th- to early-20th century period of significance, and would thus be rated noncontributing.

Discussion of Surrounding Area

The bridge carries a 2 lane road over a stream in a rural area of active farms and scattered residences. A late-18th-century vernacular stone farm house is visible at one end of the bridge, suggesting the area may have rural historic district potential.
