This is a small traditional example of a late pin-connected pony truss bridge. The truss lines appear to be unaltered with the exception of a couple welded alterations. The floor beams have been replaced however.

Information and Findings From Pennsylvania's Historic Bridge Inventory

Discussion of Bridge

The 3 panel, 39' long, pin-connected Pratt pony truss bridge built in 1909 is supported on concrete abutments with wingwalls. In 1995 the floorbeams, U-shaped hangers, and stringers were all replaced, the spacing of the stringers was changed, and a new asphalt pan replaced the timber deck. Some eye bar head were strengthened by welding new material around them. The bridge is an altered and late example of a type and design that are well represented in the county and region. Neither it nor its setting are historically or technologically significant.

Discussion of Surrounding Area

The bridge carries 1 lane of a township road over a stream in a sparsely developed, rural area with scattered 20th century residences, including post-1970 residences. The area does not appear to be a potential historic district.
