This bridge is a highly unusual structure because it contains four truss lines. Even more unusual, these four truss lines are not equally spaced. The gap between the second and third truss lines is much wider. The bridge appears to have been designed to contain two sets of tracks in this wider gap and a single track in the two smaller gaps. Today only a single track passes through the wide gap, everything else is unused. The portal bracing over the wide double track gap is unusual because its design follows a Howe truss design. Enough remains of a broken plaque remained on the bridge to identify the American Bridge Company, but the portion with the date was missing.
Otherwise, the truss is a traditionally composed railroad through truss bridge, with no other distinctive details. The bridge appears to retain excellent historic integrity.
