Information and Findings From Pennsylvania's Historic Bridge Inventory

Discussion of Bridge

The 152' long pin connected Parker thru truss bridge was built in 1903 by Nelson & Buchanan. It is supported on ashlar abutments with wingwalls that are topped with stone parapets. The truss members are traditionally composed. The built up floor beams are original as are the lattice railings inside the truss lines. The bridge was built under the Act of 1895 that authorized state funding of bridges lost due to natural disasters. It is a complete and documented example of its type in an area that is not noted for its complete pin connected bridges.

Discussion of Surrounding Area

The bridge carries one lane of an unimproved road over a stream in a sparsely developed, forested setting.
