Covered bridges have always enjoyed more public support and preservation efforts than historic metal truss bridges. In rare cases, as seen here, some people have even tried to make metal truss bridges look like covered bridges. Metal truss bridges require no such fake dressings to make them of value. HistoricBridges.org recomends that the wooden covering be removed and the metal truss be restored, and interpretive signage installed to inform people about this significant bridge. In particular, this bridge contains the unusual connection details that were the distinctive design of the Penn Bridge Company, a notable in-state bridge company.
