This bridge was originally built as a pair of vertical lift bridges, but the towers have been cut off of the bridge turning it into a fixed deck plate girder bridge. The bottom portion of the towers still remain as testiment to the bridge's movable past. The bridge has a large skew. It is not known if this bridge is threatened by the construction of a new high level bridge next to this bridge.
