This large concrete arch span was the highest in Europe for many years and remains one of the highest. It is a major engineering achievement by noted engineer Alexandre Sarrasin. The bridge is 620 feet (189 meters) high and was the highest bridge in Europe until 1963. The bridge has been bypassed and preserved for pedestrian use.
