This abandoned bridge has an unclear history. Bridgehunter.com listed it as having been built by the Cope Bridge Company of Chattanooga, Tennessee. The bridge however features unusual bridge builder plaques which are all but destroyed. Consisting of plate text riveted on another plate, most of the text fell off long ago. However this unusual bridge plaque design matches those used by the Brackett Bridge Company of Cincinnati, Ohio so it is not known if they also played a role in the construction of the bridge, or if the Cope Bridge Company reference is incorrect.
The bridge originally consisted of two pin connected through trusses: a 171-foot Camelback and a 99-foot Pratt, plus six steel I-beam spans. The Pratt truss has either collapsed or been removed. The bridge was closed in 1983.
