This bridge was built for Canadian National, but is today owned by Trillium Railway who runs trains on it five days a week.
This bridge has a very different appearance than other Welland Canal vertical lift bridges, because it is so narrow, as a single track railroad bridge rather than a two or more lane highway bridge. This bridge does not raise anymore since it crosses a section of the canal that was bypassed and abandoned. The bridge is near to the now tower-less Forks Road Bridge. The Dain City Railway Bridge is a good example of how a standard plan for a highway bridge compares to the same plan applied to a railroad bridge. The lack of railings and sidewalks are the most obvious difference, in addition to the different deck and narrow width. Otherwise, the railway bridge shares quite a bit more similarity to the Welland Canal highway lift bridges than would normally be found when comparing a highway bridge to a railway bridge.
