This bridge is a five panel pin connected half-hip Pratt pony truss. There is v-lacing on the top chord. V-lacing is also on the verticals. The bridge is traditionally composed. The default 1900 date was given by the Historic Bridge Inventory, suggesting that a definite date could not be located. I would guess that this bridge is a pre-1900 bridge for sure, perhaps as old as the late 1880s. The bridge has the unusual alteration of having a series of parallel post-tension rods added under the bridge to hold it up. Additionally, supports were added at the hip verticals to give additional support. With all this support, the truss does little if anything to hold itself up. In this arrangement, the bridge has deteriorated severely, with widespread areas of complete section loss noted, particularly on the floor beams. The bridge has been fenced off all over with ugly cyclone fencing. The bridge as a result is not very attractive looking today. It is a very sad outcome for a beautiful historic bridge that should have been considered a local treasure to be preserved.
