The owners of this beautiful bridge were kind enough to let HistoricBridges.org photograph this bridge, which is on a private driveway leading to a house that also seasonally operates a Christmas tree farm. This truss bridge is a Pratt pony truss with riveted connections and it resembles the Richman Road Bridge also over Smiths Creek. The builders of the bridge were the Joliet Bridge and Iron Company of Joliet, IL, which suggests, but does not prove, that the Richman Road Bridge might have been built by the same company. The bridge was constructed in 1905, according to the plaque on the bridge. The bridge has been modified underneath, with floor-beams cut off and connected to transverse beams added underneath steel beams that were installed to do the weight-bearing. In short, the trusses are serving a decorative-only function today. A nicely designed wooden deck provides a driving surface on the bridge. Original channel steel railings are present on the bridge.
