This bridge either collapsed or was demolished, and the trusses were dragged out of the river and deposited on the ground. It is a sad scene these days, and a depressing find for anyone who enjoys finding historic bridges that are still standing. At least a
large number of
bridge parts and the substructure were still around which provided a rough idea
of what used to be here. A lady that lives nearby said that this bridge was a
pony truss. It would be a fairly long pony truss, but remains of vertical
members do look like pony truss parts. Abutments were of concrete, with steel caissons part of the substructure as well.
