Located on a former Norfolk and Western railroad line, the railroad and rare Phoenix Column bridge was converted to a highway bridge. During the field visit to this bridge, local residents apparently having a party, had decorated this bridge in generator-powered lights. This bridge was built at an unknown location ca. 1880s, relocated and installed at this location in 1903 as a railroad bridge since at this time what is today the road was a railroad line of Norfolk and Western. The bridge and railroad were abandoned in 1938, and were reopened as a highway bridge ca. 1948.
