This bridge was replaced in 2008, and initially the bridge was simply abandoned intact next to the replacement bridge. A few years later, the deck and approach spans were demolished. However, the main span was left standing, and it even appears that portion was repainted at this time. As such, the bridge was preserved in part as a non-functional monument. Interpretive signage is in place as well.
The original plans for this bridge call the bridge an "arch truss span" and the interpretive signage places emphasis on the "truss" part of this description, calling it a "Pratt deck arch metal truss span" however this description is a bit misleading. Modern nomenclature would classify this bridge as a spandrel-braced arch bridge, rather than a truss arch bridge. The spandrel braces are the members that make the bridge look like a truss bridge. However, the presence of a crown hinge at the center of the span, and angled skewback bearings suggest that there is more "arch" to this bridge than "truss." To HistoricBridges.org this appears to be a three hinged arch bridge.
