View An Academic Paper About Stokesville Depot

This rare pin-connected Warren through truss and the road it is on were originally a railroad, and the nearby historic depot survives as well. The bridge is significant along with the depot as a remnant of this railroad history. The bridge itself is a rare pin-connected Warren truss. With a reported 1901 construction date, this is a late example of a pin-connected Warren truss bridges, as by 1901 rivet-connected Warren truss bridges and both pin-connected and rivet-connected Pratt trusses would have been most common. The few pin-connected Warren truss that exist are typically from an earlier pre-1890 era.

A historical photo below shows the depot and railroad in use.
