Many of the more standardized simple span truss bridges on Washington State seem to fall into two groups. One is the later group which is trusses from the mid 20th Century. These bridges are noted for built-up beams that lack lattice and v-lacing and for a truss design that includes an arched portal and sway bracing. The other group is the earlier group from the 1920s and 1930s and these include built-up beams with lattice and v-lacing, and lack the arched portal and sway bracing. This bridge is an example of this earlier generation of standardized truss bridge. The bridge includes concrete t-beam approach spans. The bridge is largely unaltered aside from changes to the portal and sway bracing to increase vertical clearance for trucks.
West Coast Construction Company of Seattle, Washington was the contractor for this bridge. The steel truss was fabricated by Pacific Car and Foundry Company, a company which began in Seattle but ended up in Renton, Washington.
