Kyle Stubbs provided the following history: The bridge was built for the Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway, and the crossing is built to such a significant degree as it spanned a now-abandoned grade of the Union Pacific. The bridge dates to c.1909, when the SPS line from Pasco to Spokane was constructed.
Something as substantial as a railroad deck truss bridge with plate girder approaches is an unexpected find for a crossing that is simply over a road.

This bridge and the tiny community of Washtucna are in the middle of nowhere. The only gas station in town is equally tiny, yet has a big sign reading simply "FUEL" since if you are running on fumes, this is pretty much your only option! Despite the rural location, Google maps indicate that the railroad bridge now serves a rail-trail.
