This railroad pony truss was moved here long ago, and today serves a trail. The bridge was a Milwaukee Road railroad bridge.
Thanks to John Marvig for assistance with discovering the history of the bridge. John found the following: This was listed as a 7 span pile trestle in 1942, and the pony truss showed up in a 1968 track chart. The missing plaque is Lassig, and the single mounting hole indicates an 1896-1900 span. A number of these standard spans were moved around in the 1930s and 1940s. John researched further and reports the following based on the information he was able to track down: The bridge was built 1900 at Olin, Iowa; sent to G-1900 in 1914 (after a double track structure was completed at Olin), and then sent to Menomonie in 1944, after the New Wood Branch was removed. I have no clue what happened to G-1904, but G-368 is still standing. The other Olin span is here.
