This impressive viaduct type bridge was built to carry Main Street over a railroad line. The span over the railroad tracks is one of the only rainbow arch spans in West Virginia, and the largest rainbow arch span by far. It is also notable as a rather long rainbow arch span that has no overhead bracing. This impressive span is beautifully complimented by a curved approach system consisting of open spandrel deck arch spans.

The bridge has been bypassed by a modern bridge but left standing for pedestrian use. The bridge retains good historic integrity with no major alterations but sadly some areas on the bridge suffer from substantial spalling and other deterioration. Its worth noting that the rainbow arch remains in good condition however; most of the deterioration is related to the deck and floorbeamsand and the open spandrel arch spans.
