Bottom chord connection.
Bottom chord connection at hip vertical. Note that the connection casting used here is the same as the ones used on regular vertical members, but as the hip vertical is eyebar, the attachment on the casting for the phoenix column is unused. It is not known if this was done just to avoid the complexity of a special casting here, or if perhaps this is evidence that this unusually short Whipple truss used to be a longer bridge that was moved here and shortened and when that happened they used one of the regular vertical castings at the hip vertical.
