One of the only rainbow arch bridges in Arkansas, this bridge is the only such bridge in the city and retains good integrity. The bridge has been turned into a one-way couplet with the construction of a second bridge next to it.
The bridge is unusual since it was designed by the Missouri Pacific Railroad and the railroad constructed it for free as a goodwill gesture to the city. It is particularly unusual that the railroad designed this attractive rainbow arch bridge, a bridge type not normally built by railroad companies in America.
