Bridge Documentation

This is a unique pair of bridges. One is a steel arch footbridge that crosses the river at a perpendicular angle and leads to the Vienna Main Customs Office Building (Wiener Hauptzollamt). Below this bridge is a steel pony truss bridge which carries the U-Bahn which emerges from the underground to cross the river at a heavy skew before returning into the continuation of the underground subway tunnel.

About the Zollamtssteg Arch Bridge

This bridge was designed by Martin Paul. Josef Hackhofer and Friedrich Ohmann were architects for the bridge. Anton Biró was responsible for the steel construction. This bridge is a listed building in Austria.

About the Zollamtsbrücke Truss Bridge

This bridge was built in 1900 for the Stadtbahn. Otto Wagner was the architect, because he oversaw all the initial development of the Stadtbahn buildings and bridges.
