This bridge is a good example of a railroad swing bridge. It is a fairly short example, meaning that when open two rather narrow channels are provided for boats. The truss structure is traditionally composed, however
unlike many swing bridges, the truss does not form a tower over the pier. This bridge was replaced. Interestingly, the bridge was replaced by a bascule bridge span that
was being replaced in Galveston Texas.
