This historic bridge was demolished and replaced in 2013!

This bridge from the deck appears to be a 1950s stringer bridge with period railing. However, an inspection of the bridge from beside the river reveals that steel cantilevers were set into a narrow concrete arch bridge to add width to the bridge. Thus, the railings do date to the 1950s, as they were added when a project to widen a 1935s concrete arch took place. After that large project, this bridge has survived with good integrity. Although the bridge has no weight limit, this bridge may eventually end up on a demolition list. 23 Mile Road has been being widened into five lanes as it is a very busy road.
