Bridge Documentation

This bridge's future is at risk!

Bridge Status: This bridge is at risk for demolition and replacement!

Although steel stringers today carry the load of traffic, this bridge retains its extremely early surviving highway swing truss superstructure. Very few surviving swing bridges in the country date to before 1885. Despite the fact that the bridge has load-bearing stringers, the bridge (and its now-decorative trusses) are at risk for demolition and replacement. The bridge does enjoy strong community support who would like to see the historically significant trusses preserved.
