Bridge Documentation

This bridge is an uncommon and attractive example of a suspension bridge constructed to carry non-motorized traffic. Bridges like this are sometimes called swinging bridges, but this bridge, with is substantial pony stiffening truss is more stable than some of the suspension footbridges that gave rise to the idea of a swinging bridge. This bridge appears to retain decent historic integrity. While the cables may have been replaced, the riveted stiffening truss and riveted towers appear to be original and unaltered. As such, this should be considered a historically significant bridge.
