This bridge is an uncommon example of a continuous deck truss. It is particularly rare in Georgia where very few large truss bridges of any kind exist, although several large truss bridges including this one were built in this region to accommodate the reservoir created when Buford Dam was built.

An unusual detail about this bridge is that technically only four of the five truss spans are continuous. Four of the spans are combined as a single continuous unit, however their is a fifth truss span that is not part of the continuous unit and functions on its own as a simple span.

In 1992, a second bridge was built next to this one to form a one-way couplet of bridges.

Photos for this bridge are few in number due to accessibility challenges and the fact that the sun was in the worst possible position during the field visit.
