Bridge Documentation

This bridge is one of four rare Scherzer rolling lift bascule bridges in Joliet. For an overview of Joliet's rolling lift bridges, see the Jefferson Street Bridge page. This bridge is one of the more narrow of the bascule bridges in Joliet. The bridge retains good historic integrity. The bridge features a builder plaque crediting the Mississippi Valley Structural Steel Company with building the bridge. The bridge was likely designed by the Scherzer Rolling Lift Bridge Company as the other bridges in the city were.
