This bridge is technically a pair of steel plate girder bridges with the outside of the girders faced in concrete so to casual viewers the bridge looks like a concrete bridge. The bridge has a simple, streamlined visual appearance. It has the names of the former railroad lines cast into the concrete, Chicago and NorthWestern North Shore Line. Today, the western bridge carries Metra trains, while the eastern bridge carries a bike path. The bridge has stairways that lead up to the deck level of the bridges from the road below. This suggests that there was once a train station here, since the stairs would have provided access to the platforms. The former Barat College buildings are northeast of this bridge. It is possible a train station was once here to serve the college.
