This modern bridge is not historic, but it reused some of the stone from the previous historic bridge, and displays a similar railing and spandrel appearance. It is mainly included on this website for the sake of explanation. The previous bridge at this location was an highly significant and rare Melan type arch bridge. The bridge was considered a "Select" bridge under the Indiana Historic Bridge Management Plan which meant the bridge should have been preserved, yet the owner found a way around this and demolished and replaced the bridge. As a result, the rare Melan steel arch reinforcing is completely lost and the bridge seen today is supported by standard reinforced concrete. The bridge has no heritage value whatsoever today. The stones are not what made the bridge historically significant. Bridge lengths and builders/engineers given above refer to the historic bridge.
