This bridge stands abandoned next to its replacement bridge. It is a traditionally composed pin-connected pony truss, likely from the first decade of the 20th Century, based on its details characteristic of a bridge built late in the pin-connected truss era. The bridge has deteriorated severely. At some point, the pin plates that also function as hangers for the floorbeams failed on several panels, sending deck and floorbeams crashing into the creek below. Some of the deck still remains laying on the ground below the bridge. One panel of the truss was not affected, so a single panel's worth of deck and a floorbeam still remain.
The current highway bridge dates to 1983. Assuming this is when the truss bridge was bypassed and abandoned, this bridge has was overgrown and deteriorated very quickly since that time. Many bridges abandoned for far longer than this bridge are in much better shape.
The bridge still has preservation potential. Many historic truss bridge rehabilitation projects replace the floor beams anyway, so new hangers and floorbeams could be made and reattached to restored trusses.
